Hey there.
It’s been raining a lot so I still have got no video yet.
This weekend I got myself a helmet and installed a speed reading “device”.

I guess it’s pretty low profile and I can get the main unit out when I want (it’s a “clip on” thing).

UNLOADED it marked a top speed of 90.4 km/h (some 56 mph) – IT’S MOUNTED UPSIDE-DOWN so I can look at it while riding.

Now all I want is to stop rainin so I can test the bike.

Keep rollin

Hey there
As I said earlier, the Villiers boardtrack racer had an “issue” with the jackshaft that allowed for a correct allignement between the sprocket on the engine’s shaft and the sprocket on the rear wheel. Using regular bmx bearings did’nt work as they were busted on the first glorious 30ish mph test run… With them, so did the threads on the shaft and the metal “bed” that recieves the bearings got busted.
I was mad, and had to look for a way out or the bike was in serious danger of gettin’ destroyed, Monster Garage style!
So I chopped off the bottom part of the frame, made a new one, lower, and made new engine stands that allow the chain to go directly from the centrifugal clutch’s 10 teeth sprocket to the 44 teeth rear wheel sprocket.
The frame now stands 2 inches off the ground at the lowest point. It’s not a frame loop because the oil sump is not round:

Today I’ll make a new brake lever and have a test run… hopefully.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the engine had an accident: it fell (!!!) from my working bench. Everything seems to be ok from the outside, but I’ll only believe that when it gets runnin’.
Thanks for watching.
Keep rollin’

Hey there guys.
I hav'nt got a lot of time with the little girl, dippers, baths and all, but I managed to make some adjusters (?! spelling) as the chain jumped out of the rear 44 tooth sprocket at high revs:

Also I finally got the carburetor tuned properly and the engine got a new life, revin' up much faster and hittin 113 kmh (some 70mph) on the stand, that is unloaded.
New test run tomorrow.
I'll keep in touch as often as possible.
Keep rollin'

Geared to hit 70? Damn. Not sure what that will translate to while under load of a ride, road and wind resistance, etc.

Just remember that you're a dad now. Gotta act all respectable and responsible now. Very Happy

Yeah you're right Very Happy wonder if I'll be able to Shocked
I'm sure that 70 will be far off actual top speed. I'd be happy if I reached 40 Twisted Evil

PostSubject: Hog Boys Boardtrakcer (Ex-Villiers)   Tue 10 Apr - 3:09

Hey there.

I started modifying the Villiers BTR, which will be a Villiers no more. Maybe I’ll call it “Hog Boys”.
The mods include:
- New fork
- New 252cc 4 stroke engine (flame throwing demon)
- jackshaft transmission with custom lub system
- Cleaner and painted frame
- Hand operated brake
- Complete faux tank with little gas reservoir inside

The 252cc Lombardini 4 stroke engine I referred to earlier is already working. There was a carburettor problem that I already solved. I managed to get a 350cc Lombardini 4 stoke engine in the process, with a broken rod. Luckly this new engine is exactly the same size as the 252 I’ll be using now, only the piston’s diameter and carb are larger. So, If I choose to, I can replace the 252 with the 350, without messing with the arrangement I’m dealing with now.

The fork

I always wanted a fork that looked more like the ones used on real board track racers. So I made one:
I started by using the crown of a minibike someone gave me I don’t know when…

Then I bended some tubes always having Burt Munro lookin’ after the job

The result looked pretty good

Time for a mockup

Then I made these dropouts out off stuff I had

Chopped off the old steering column, leaving a “bed” for the new one, and gave it a reinforcement.

Then I tried it on.

And welded it properly in place.

Then I replaced the “seatpost” for cleaner looks:

Keep it up.
