Hey there.
I messed up Karfer. I got the wrong size. I took it to the.. uhh.. I don’t know what you call it but it’s the professional man that works with the vise and he filled it for me. It looks good. If it breaks, well.. he’ll just have to do it again.. He is also making the shaft I talked about.
Since I chopped of the “thing” that held the previous clutch, I got a hole in the bike, look-wise. It was built with the measures of the H-D I posted earlier. But I forgot that this bike had 2 cilinders and mine, unfortunatelly, has only one.
So I created a lubricating device for the axle that recalls the lubrication cups of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s stationay engines.

I’m realy diggin’ the ratty look on the bike and it’s overal appearance. I’m gonna build me a leaf fork tough.
Also sticked on the Villiers logos.

Hey there.

I got the axle good but screwed up (again):

The long shaft that is on the left should be on the right and vice-versa because one nut screws clockwise and the other counter-clockwise... When the engine revs up they tend to unscrew... DANG! (always learnin')
Now I have tho add some counter-nuts..

But still I think its coming out nice:

Thanks a lot and keep rollin'

Hey there.
I just wasn’t happy solving all the problems with the bike, and had to go get some new ones. So…
The Villiers BTR got chopped.
As I said earlier, the chain touched the frame so I had to mess with the bottom part of the triangle. While my hands where on it, I chopped all of it because I wanted to make new dropouts (correct term? - the place where the wheels shaft go):

Now I’ve got new problems: How to build every thing (the triangle) right?
Thanks a lot and keep rollin’

MAKE YOUR OWN YOU NEED TO HAVE 3 THINGS LOCKED IN WHEN YOU BUILD .THE REAR DROPOUTS ,THE BOTTOM BRACKET ,AND THE HEAD TUBE.LOOK ON RAT RODS SOME PEOPLE HAVE PICS. ON THERE . START WITH A NICE FLAT BASE GET SOME 2'' TUBING ,AND SOME 2''X2''X1/4'' ANGLE ,AND SOME 1'' ALLTHREAD & NUTS .TAKE SOME FLAT PLATE CUT 6 WEDGE PIECES TACK THEM TOGETHER TRUE THEM UP WITH A GRINDER TACK THEM ON EVERYOTHER FLAT SPOT ON A 6 SIDED NUT AND YOU JUST MADE CONES THAT GO ON THE ALLTHREAD .YOU CAN DO THIS FOR THE BOTTOM BRACKET AND HEAD TUBE. JUST BOLT THE REAR DROP OUTS IN WITH A 3/8'' BOLT ON THE REAR PART OF YOUR JIG. YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN CONES THE WAY I JUST TOLD YOU .NO NEED TO SPEND MONEY TO HAVE ALUM. ONES MACHINED . EACH NUT WILL HAVE 3 WEDGES ON IT YOU MAKE 6 THE SAME SO YOU WILL HAVE A MATCHED PAIR FOR RIGHT &LEFT ON THE BB & TOP AND BOTTOM FOR HEAD TUBE JUST DON'T MIX THE PAIRS UP . THIS WORS VERY WELL ,AND IS THE PART OF FRAME JIGS THAT PEOPLE GET STUCK ON. A OL PIPE WELDER SHOWED ME THIS TRICK . Twisted Evil

Hey there.
As I said earlier, I had to redo the rear triangle.
If you take a good look and compare these to older photos, you’ll notice:
a more compact design, a shorter wheel base, a better placed seat

and a better looking dropout (correct term?).

Tonight I’m gonna put it all toghether, hoping that no new problems arise.
Thanks a lot and keep rollin’

Everything is back together:

As you can see, its good to go, so I gave it a try:

I noticed that it took a while to catch some speed (low power), although I only tryed it it my yard.

So I made a new rear sprocket from a bmx peddaling sprocket (what is the exact term?):

It looks better with this 46 teeth sprocket.

And I'm gonna try it RIGH NOW! Laughing

I still have'nt tryed it on the road Mad because the damn brake brakes absolutely 0!
It's a drum brake meant to be operated by hand, like a normal brake.
But as much force as I apply to the foot lever it does'nt give me a satisfactory response.
What do you think?
I allready busted my leg on the rope pulley trying to stop..

Exclamation You weld?
Then weld a disk tab on that front fork and you will have all the braking you need.

thanks burke, but in fact I would really dislike having a disk brake on it..
I'd like to have it as low profile as possible.
Do you think that this foot brake just isn't able to deliver enough leverage?

Quite possibly.
Can you look at putting a drum on the front then. About 80% of true braking comes from the front and for me I prefer it so I could reach the bikes perfromance potential.

Hum.. don't know. I can try that, but you know, I understand the brake efficiency issue, but I really like a clean front.
Do you think that if I replace the foot lever by a normal hand brake it will work better?

I just don't think you will ever achieve a great brake feel from a rear drum no matter what you do. The old motorcycle chopper builds back in the day were often done the same way and single drum brake in the rear and then a stretched springer no frills front end.
They were often very sketchy to ride but thats the way they rode them and it was cool.

i like what you did with it and glad it seems to run better. yea with that gearing its gonna be a pig down low thats a big wheel your turning. dig the sticker dude!!!! oh and really like the exhaust bet that sounds sweet. as far as the brake take a pic of the brake setup again you may be able to get more leverage out of it but dont expect a whole lot out of these brakes. honestly a scrub brake on the tire (think mini bike) would probably give you better stopping power

Hey there.
Thanks for the input guys.

YESTERDAY was a great day!
I got the brake problem solved. I took it apart, sanded the internal side of the hub, sanded the pads and made X pattern cuts on them. It improved braking very much and now its a lot safer.
Then, altough it was nightfall I had to take it to a dusty backroad, and man was that fun!
It handles very nicely, picking up speed relatively fast. I don't know the actual speed I got, but I think close to 50km/h (some 30mph). This was'nt the top speed because I got a bit scared and because the 100m road came to end.
Man I was as happy as a kid on Xmas morning! cheers

my mini bike when it had a built 5 hp was good for 45 and all it had for a brake was a scrub brake. can you say sketchy? then my buddy was running it through the mud tossed the chain and scattered the rod. 30 is plenty quick. ok greg we need to get on building that gas boardtracker
